Our focus 'Styles of Writings' have been this term: *Recount Story Writing*Our Holidays*Revisiting how to write a 'Recount' story. *Explanation WritingOur focuses have been:*Title - an interesting name for our story *Definition - an interesting fact that gives a clue to what my story is about andintroduces the whole topic *Description- What the topic-object (noun) looks like?- What the topic-object (noun) is used for?- Is the topic-object good or not so good and why? *Conclusion - ending with an interesting fact and comment that 'convinces' thereader why this topic-object (noun) was explained in the first place!eg As you can see, that is why the hippopotamus is such a fascinating creature.
Mrs Reid worked with Room 7 children on these stories when Whaea Lesa was away one day.

*Report Writing #1Our focuses have been:*Title*Classification - What family/group does it come from?*Description - What it looks like?*Dynamics - What they can do? Our stories were about real animals in the beginning and then the children began to 'create' theirown animals. Some stories are about animals that are in part-real and in part-made up!
This term we have been perfecting our 'Recount' story writing skills. Our focuses have been:*The different parts that make a recount story- Title- Orientation (When? Where? Who?)- Events (Series)- Conclusion *Using different sentence starters.*Using interesting adjectives and verbs.*Using interesting synonym words to replace the usual words we would usually use.*Conjunction words that can join two sentences. Other editing skills:*Proof reading our stories to search for mistakes and to make sureour stories make sense.*Using a variety of word sources and dictionaries to correct mistakes. Presentation skills:*A border to contain the story.*Copying the story accurately with no mistakes.*Proof reading for mistakes.*Making sure our story is presented tidily and colourfully.

Our Power-point display of our Recount Stories for 'Oliver Goes Exploring'.We read a book by Margaret Beames and Sue Hitchcock and then created artwork, retold thestory again in our own written words and added an audio clip of the children reading their stories.Some of the children are still to read and save their stories as audio clips. These will beadded later. *Sorry the audio clip did not come out but we will add these later.
